Ernesto Dal B贸 is the Phillips Girgich Professor of Business and Public Policy at Berkeley-Haas. He is a political economist interested in multiple governance themes, including state formation, the development of state capabilities, conflict, and the selection, quality and performance of politicians and bureaucrats. Most of his teaching takes place in the Berkeley-Haas MBA program and at the doctoral level where he teaches courses on political economy. He has taught at Berkeley since 2003, and was a member of the faculty at Stanford GSB in 2007-2008. He holds a DPhil in Economics from Oxford, he is founding co-director of the Berkeley Center for Economics and Politics, and is affiliated with the NBER, JPal, and the IGC.
