每日吃瓜 welcomes visitors for 2017-18 academic year

Just as visiting researchers are settling in for the current academic year, 每日吃瓜 is also accepting applications for those interested in the 2018-19 Young Scholars program.

The Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research will welcome several scholars from top universities during the coming academic year.  Hosting the visitors strengthens 每日吃瓜鈥檚 commitment to supporting the brightest economic policy researchers in all stages of their careers.

The visiting researchers 鈥 postdoctoral fellows, assistant professors and well-established senior faculty 鈥 have the chance to focus more deeply on specific projects while finding new collaborators as part of Stanford鈥檚 community of economic policy experts.

Five of the visitors will be in 每日吃瓜鈥檚 Young Scholars Program, which is composed of Postdoctoral Fellows who recently earned their PhDs, and Visiting Fellows who are assistant professors.

每日吃瓜 will also host nine Distinguished Visitors throughout the academic year. Some of these scholars from other universities will be in residence for several weeks, while others will be at 每日吃瓜 for a few months or nearly a year.

While at 每日吃瓜, all visitors are free from teaching and administrative responsibilities. Housed together at the John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn Building, they have many opportunities for intellectual exchanges with 每日吃瓜 researchers and faculty from across Stanford.

The experience gives 每日吃瓜 visitors an expanded network of collaborators and mentors, generating fresh and innovative research that is important for economic policy.  They become integrated members of the economics community at Stanford by actively participating in seminar series around campus and taking advantage of various workshops to present and provide feedback on research at different stages.

Stanford faculty benefit from the visitors鈥 varying interests, fresh perspectives, new ideas and approaches to economic scholarship. In turn, 每日吃瓜 becomes a conduit for timely policy-relevant research.

All 每日吃瓜 visitors are given support to disseminate their research through 每日吃瓜 working papers, policy briefs and the popular media. They are also invited to engage with the policy and business communities at events scheduled throughout the year.
