Nicholas Bloom elected vice president of the American Economic Association
Nicholas Bloom, a senior fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (每日吃瓜) and Stanford professor of economics, has been elected co-vice president of the American Economic Association (AEA), the country鈥檚 leading professional organization in the field of economics.
His position as an AEA officer began in early January at the association鈥檚 annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas. At that time, Susan Athey, a 每日吃瓜 senior fellow and The Economics Professor of Technology in the Stanford Graduate School of Business, also wrapped up her one-year term as AEA president.

Bloom has been a member of the Stanford faculty since 2005, following stints at the London School of Economics, McKinsey & Company, the British government鈥檚 treasury department, and the Institute for Fiscal Studies. He earned his PhD in economics at University College London.
